21.02.2008: Per Faxneld snakker om Mørkets apostler: Satanister og Lucifer-beundrere før Church of Satan

 Kjettersk Kjeller er tilbake, og har besøk langveisfra. Per Faxneld er doktorgradsstudent ved Universitetet i Stockholm og forfatter av boken Mörkrets apostlar: Satanism i äldre tid (Ouroboros).
I 1966 grunnla Anton LaVey Church of Satan, historiens første åpne satanistiske organisasjon. Men selv om LaVey utvilsomt var en pioner, var han ikke uten forløpere.
I vestens historie har det vært en lang rekke mennesker som så på Satan og Lucifer med positivt blikk. Blant dem var mennesker som teosofiens mor Helena Blavatsky og antroposofiens far Rudolf Steiner (ja, han med alle skolene).
Av mer utpregede satanister møter vi den dekadente forfatteren Stanislaw Przybyszewski, som var gift med Dagny Juel og nær venn med både Munch og Strindberg. Og hva med ”The Great Beast 666” selv, Aleister Crowley? Hvor langt gikk hans sympati for Djevelen egentlig?
Vi får også et innblikk i okkulte ordner som det hemmelighetsfulle Fraternitas Saturni i 1920-tallets Berlin, og den seksualmystiske gruppen i 30-tallets Paris som ble ledet av den eksotiske satansprestinnen Maria de Naglowska.
Lenger ute i periferien møter vi danske Ben Kadosh, som med et smørspann på hodet og et ritualsverd av papp framkalte Satan. Hans fargerike satanisme har tilhengere den dag i dag. Mens den amerikanske barbereren Herbert Sloane som påsto han hadde grunnlagt en satanistsekt allerede i 1948, og kunne tilby både ”forheksede hårsveiser” og Satans velsignelse.
Per Faxneld kombinerer sine akademiske plikter med å skrive artikler for kampsportblader som Fighter, så vi regner med at Kjettersk Kjellers publikum vil oppføre seg enda penere enn vanlig.
Som vanlig blir det mye musikk denne kvelden, og for å gi oss noen nye impulser har vi invitert gjestesnurrerne DJ Forvridd og DJ Molefunken. Forvridd og Molefunken er til vanlig tilknyttet Gotham Nights, der de alltid spiller sammen.
I løpet av bare et halvt år har de to rukket å markere seg blant hovedstadens dyktigste platesnurrere i den mørke enden av musikken, og vi gleder oss veldig til å høre hva de spiller når de ikke trenger å få gotiske dansegulv i kok.
Velkommen til nok en Kjettersk Kjeller under Den Gode Café i Fredensborgveien 13 i Oslo. Vi sveiver i gang igjen torsdag 21. februar kl. 19. Som vanlig koster det 50 kroner å komme inn, og aldersgrensen er 18 år.

Kerekes KomebackAfter a more than two year break, the long-running journal HEADPRESS is re-launched, still a book of appr. 150 pages, but now it's ALL COLOR. Or colour, as they say in the UK. Issue #27 has a big interview with Alan Moore, the ed. goes to the Sonar music festival in Spain, and takes a trip to Mexico City. There are articles on british psychedelia, Brazil's Os Mutantes, Manchester punks on film (from the HP book "No Focus"), the  band The Deviants (from the book "Keep It Together!"), female impersonators (from the promising, but not-yet-published "Bad Mags" - see also the Bad Mags site), The Career of Long Jeanne Silver, Chelsea Hotel (from the book "Chelsea Hotel Manhattan"), A Skywald Night in Chicago (from the book "Skywald Horror Mood") and JG Ballard on mondo movies (from the book "Sweet & Savage"),
Also: A tour of West Yorkshire murders with Rik Rawling, an encounter with 9/11 by D. Kerekes and Dylan Harding's article "In The Shadow of Sun Ra".
More excerpts from their own books than ever before, but very few people have all these books, and they need to be promoted. It's still a great anthology well worth getting.
The Headpress publishing house, relocated from Manchester to London, ran a full page color ad for their music-related books in the January issue of Rec. Collector, let's hope that pays off for them. It certainly seems to increase visits to their web site. Check out their site, get issues of Headpress and browse through their large catalogue of books. These guys have been publishing since 1991 and need support to be able to keep going.

Boxed Ape The much respected label Important Records gave access to pre-order of the much anticipated Coil 4xLP box set "The Ape of Naples"/"New Backwards" yesterday. This is a very limited and very pricy release that even die-hard Coil fans may not be able to afford. It's also very heavy, so the postage will add 50% to the price for european orders.
From Important's message:
The Ape Of Naples/New Backwards is limited to 1500 copies. This 4 lp set is pressed on heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and each record is packaged in its own lp jacket which is then housed in a deluxe tip-on style box. A poster is included. The first three records make up The Ape Of Naples and the b-side of each has a custom etching. The fourth record is The New Backwards and it is double sided. A four panel poster is included and the box has a 5th color spot-gloss. 300 copies of the Ape box are on red vinyl. Many will be going to Peter Christopherson and the rest will be shipped to mailorder while supplies last.
This box set includes 2 albums. The first is the complete Ape Of Naples and the second is The New Backwards which is only currently available in this box set. The New Backwards appropriately is part of the Ape of Naples set. The material is additional completed versions of songs that were left unfinished, whose early raw loops and demonstrational incarnations might sound familiar to some but have never officially surfaced.
