Raiders of the lost Aryans Fra Kjettersk Kjeller: 28.02.2007: Forfatter Heather Pringle: Raiders of the Lost Aryans: Himmler’s Ahnenerbe and the Quest for Occult Power and a New Golden Age
Her blir nok snippen litt løsere.

Jodorowsky out May 1st on dvd It has taken WAY too long, but Alejandro Jodorowsky's delirious masterpieces EL TOPO and HOLY MOUNTAIN are now (well, soon ...) finally out on dvd from abcko, having been only marginally available in Italy and Japan in the past. The films come with commentaries, trailers, photo galleries, new interviews and deleted scenes. The films are available individually, but the best deal is to spring for the box set at the same price, when added up. The box also includes his debut FANDO Y LIS, the documentary "La Constellation Jodorowsky", early unreleased short film LA CRAVATE and two soundtrack CDs.
From ABCKO: ABKCO Films will release Alejandro Jodorowsky’s trio of mind-bending classics, El Topo, The Holy Mountain and Fando Y Lis, on DVD for the first time ever. These astonishing films, which have been fully restored and remastered, will be available as a special limited edition collector’s box set featuring exclusive rare bonus materials. The box set will be available for an SRP of $49.98, with El Topo and The Holy Mountain also available separately at $24.98 each.
Originally released in 1970, El Topo quickly caught the imagination of movie audiences, becoming a landmark in independent film-making. The early screenings at New York’s Elgin Theater sparked the Midnight Movie phenomena, catalyzed by an endorsement from John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Classic Americana and avant-garde European sensibilities collide with Zen Buddhism and the Bible as master gunfighter and mystic El Topo (played by writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky) tries to defeat four sharp-shooting rivals on a bizarre path to allegorical self-awareness and resurrection. As it seeks an alternative to the Hollywood mainstream, El Topo is also the most controversial quasi-Western head trip ever made!
Jodorowsky’s high budget follow up effort, The Holy Mountain, takes his psychedelic allegorical mastery to another level. Grotesque, mystical and sacrilegious, it is an excursion into the meaning of earthly wealth and immortality.
Rounding out this unique set is Jodorowsky’s first full-length feature film, Fando Y Lis. Based on Jodorowsky's memories of a play by surrealist Fernando Arrabal, it caused an uproar in the avant-garde community when it premiered in 1967 in Acapulco.
Among the extras included in this collector’s box is previously unseen footage, a feature on the restoration process, an exclusive interview with Jodorowsky, optional director commentary tracks, subtitles, two special CDs of the films’ soundtracks and a separate DVD of the first film ever made by Jodorowsky, La Cravate.

Look back on Anger Fantoma Films finally presents, after working on it for over 5 years, Kenneth Anger's films on dvd, at least some of them, with a volume 2 to follow, I guess:
Fantoma Films’ special edition DVD hits stores on January 23, 2007.
“It’s time that Kenneth Anger’s work became more available, because he is, without a doubt, one of our greatest artists.” – Martin Scorsese
Cinematic magician, legendary provocateur, author of the infamous HOLLYWOOD BABYLON (II) books and creator of some of the most striking and beautiful works in the history of film, Kenneth Anger is a singular figure in post-war American culture.
A major influence on everything from the films of Martin Scorsese, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and David Lynch to the pop art of Andy Warhol to MTV, Anger’s work serves as a talisman of universal symbols and personal obsessions, combining myth, artifice and ritual to render cinema with the power of a spell or incantation.
Covering the first half of Anger’s career, from his landmark debut FIREWORKS in 1947 to his epic bacchanalia INAUGURATION OF THE PLEASURE DOME, Fantoma is very proud to present the long-awaited first volume of films by this revolutionary and groundbreaking maverick, painstakingly restored and presented on DVD for the first time anywhere in the world.
In production for over 5 years, THE FILMS OF KENNETH ANGER VOLUME 1 is easily the most requested title in Fantoma Films’ history. Painstakingly restored by Fantoma, these shorts represent the beginning of the independent film movement as we know it today and Anger’s revolutionary use of blending film to music has often been credited as giving birth to the music video. The films contained in this set include: FIREWORKS (1947), PUCE MOMENT (1949), RABBIT’S MOON (1950, shown here in the rarely seen 16 minute version), EAUX D’ARTIFICE (1953), and INAUGURATION OF THE PLEASURE DOME (1954).
THE FILMS OF KENNETH ANGER VOLUME 1 contains the following special features:
High Definition transfers from newly restored elements.
Screen specific audio commentary for all films from Kenneth Anger.
Rare outtakes and behind-the-scenes images.
Restoration Demonstrations.
A 48 page book with a written appreciation of Kenneth Anger by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, exclusive to this release, extensive notes for each film, rare photos, never before seen sketches for Anger's unproduced film PUCE WOMEN, and more.
From amazon.com: "Recently restored by the UCLA Film Archive, Kenneth Anger's difficult-to-see early films are finally collected here onto DVD, alongside optional fascinating commentary by Anger himself. Scores of Anger fans have previously persevered through horrid rented VHS copies of these films, due to their inimitable beauty and strangeness. Anger is renowned for filmic experimentation that portrays invented occult or druggy subcultures while formally rejecting conventions of blockbuster filmmaking. As a result, he has also become the unofficial godfather of the music video, for his groundbreaking use of soundtracks that, in these early films at least, meld classical music with '50s bubble gum pop and '60s folk for a hypnotic, psychedelic effect."
